**Rheumatology Opportunity**
**Location: Rutland, VT**

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, rheumatic, and musculoskeletal conditions
• Provide comprehensive specialty care primarily in the outpatient setting, with consultation support for hospitalized patients as needed
Manage conditions including:
o Rheumatoid arthritis
o Lupus
o Gout
o Vasculitis
o Osteoporosis
o Other rheumatic and inflammatory disorders
• Provide evidence-based, patient-centered care focused on symptom control, disease modification, functional improvement, and long-term disease management
• Collaborate closely with primary care providers and other specialists to coordinate comprehensive patient care
Clinical Responsibilities
• Perform comprehensive medical histories and detailed physical examinations
• Evaluate disease activity, functional status, and treatment response
Order, interpret, and integrate:
o Laboratory testing
o Imaging studies
o Bone health assessments
o Other diagnostic studies
• Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
• Provide pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment recommendations
Prescribe and manage:
o Disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs)
o Biologic agents
o Corticosteroids
o Other immunomodulatory therapies
• Monitor treatment efficacy, medication safety, and potential side effects
Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice, including:
o Joint injections
o Joint aspirations
o Other rheumatology-related procedures as clinically indicated
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medication risks and benefits, disease self-management, and long-term follow-up
• Provide timely consultations, follow-up care, and clinical recommendations
• Review referral information and communicate treatment plans with referring providers
Collaboration & Practice Support
Work collaboratively with:
o Primary care providers
o Specialty physicians
o Nursing staff
o Rehabilitation professionals
o Other members of the healthcare team
• Coordinate comprehensive and continuous patient care
• Participate in peer collaboration and clinical initiatives
• Support quality improvement and patient safety programs
• Participate in utilization management and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Contribute to organizational committees and initiatives as assigned
Documentation & Compliance
• Maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in the electronic medical record
• Ensure documentation meets organizational, payer, and regulatory requirements
• Support regulatory compliance and quality standards
• Promote appropriate utilization of healthcare resources
Call & Additional Responsibilities
• Participate in call coverage as assigned
• Provide consultation support for hospitalized patients when needed
• Participate in organizational initiatives and committee work
• Support the organization's mission of providing accessible, high-quality, patient-centered rheumatology care
