Locums Hospitalist (On-site) - Okeechobee, FL (6+ Month PRN Assignment)

Location: Okeechobee, Florida - community hospital (≈100 beds)

Assignment

• Locum tenens, ongoing PRN assignment (minimum 6 months)
• On-site hospital coverage; shifts scheduled on-site (specific times to be determined)
• No call responsibilities

Hospital & Patient Population

• Rural, community-based hospital
• Daily census ≈50 patients
• Typical rounding load: 20-24 patients/day
• Daily admissions: ≈12
• No trauma service; primary internal medicine cases
• Open ICU - physician will round and manage critically ill patients as appropriate
• No consult service

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive inpatient hospital medicine care
• Admit and manage inpatient medical conditions; coordinate discharge planning and outpatient follow-up
• Round on ~20-24 patients per day and manage ~12 admissions/day
• Manage critically ill patients in the open ICU; collaborate with Pulmonology and Cardiology for ventilator management and procedures as needed
• Perform clinically indicated procedures (procedural competency preferred but not mandatory)
• Work collaboratively with nursing, case management, respiratory therapy, PT, laboratory, and other support services

Credentials & Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Active Florida medical license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
