Job Description

Join a collaborative surgical team in Long Beach, CA, providing full-time, shift-based coverage for trauma and acute care surgery patients in a fast-paced hospital setting. This role delivers comprehensive care across the emergency department and inpatient units, supporting surgeons and multidisciplinary teams in high-acuity practice.

Schedule

  • Full-time, shift-based coverage for trauma and acute care surgery
  • Combination of weekday, weekend, and holiday shifts based on program needs
  • Exact shift structure and annual commitment to be finalized

Core Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage trauma and acute care surgery patients in the ED and inpatient settings
  • Perform initial and ongoing assessments, develop management plans, and make clinical decisions within scope of practice
  • Participate in daily rounds and coordinate inpatient surgical care
  • Assist surgeons with treatment planning and intraoperative and bedside procedures as credentialed
  • Manage preoperative and postoperative care, including discharge planning and patient education
  • Order and interpret labs and diagnostic studies within licensure limits
  • Coordinate specialty consultations and multidisciplinary care
  • Respond to changes in patient condition and communicate effectively with supervising surgeons and hospital teams
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
  • Contribute to trauma and acute care quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current or eligible California PA or NP license
  • NCCPA certification for PAs or appropriate national certification for NPs
  • Eligible for hospital credentialing and clinical privileges
  • Preferred experience: trauma, acute care surgery, general surgery, emergency medicine, critical care, or other high-acuity settings
  • Strong clinical judgment, ability to work efficiently under pressure, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: $130,000
