Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine leader to serve as Department Chair overseeing the Adult and Pediatric Emergency Departments at a major academic medical center in Morristown, New Jersey. This role combines clinical leadership, academic stewardship, and operational oversight in a high-volume, tertiary care setting.
Department highlights
- Annual ED volume ~110,000 visits (including pediatrics) with 120 modern treatment areas
- Recently renovated and expanded adult and pediatric emergency facilities
- Level I Trauma Center and on-site Goryeb Children’s Hospital with a dedicated Pediatric ED
- Fast-track and specialized treatment zones, behavioral health and geriatric services
- Certified Autism Center and comprehensive EMS control with specialty transport, transfer, and helicopter capabilities
- Robust APP and scribe support; Epic EMR in use
- ACGME-accredited Emergency Medicine residency, medical school affiliation, and strong academic programs
Compensation & benefits
- Total compensation $575,000-$625,000 annually (clinical + administrative), with administrative stipend
- Start-date bonus (subject to a 24-month clawback)

Qualifications
- Board certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) and completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency
- Current or eligible New Jersey medical license
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Emergency Department leadership and academic emergency medicine
- Proven ability managing complex ED operations and leading interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with residency and fellowship education preferred
- Excellent administrative, interpersonal, communication, and strategic leadership skills
- Availability to start following hospital credentialing and privileging (anticipated 3-4 months)
