Critical Care Physician Assistant opening in Milton, MA
Full-Time | Nocturnal ICU | 7 PM–7 AM | Critical Care Procedures
A community hospital in Milton, Massachusetts is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide dedicated overnight Critical Care coverage for critically ill patients in the ICU. The PA will serve as the primary overnight critical care provider in collaboration with intensivists, hospitalists, emergency physicians, nursing, respiratory therapy, and specialty consultants.
Opportunity Highlights:
- Full-time nocturnal Critical Care PA opportunity
- Dedicated overnight ICU coverage
- 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
- Rotating weekends and holidays
- Evaluate, stabilize, and manage critically ill patients
- Perform ICU admissions
- Assist with ICU triage and transfer decisions
- Participate in ICU rounds
- Respond to all Codes and Rapid Responses
- Support Emergency Department physicians with Critical Care consultations
- Assist with evaluation of trauma patients in the Emergency Department
- Manage mechanical ventilation under physician supervision
- Provide care for deteriorating hospitalized patients
- Collaborate closely with intensivists, hospitalists, emergency physicians, surgeons, nursing staff, and respiratory therapists
- Participate in quality improvement and Critical Care committee activities
- Opportunity to serve as a clinical preceptor for PA students and other healthcare professionals
- Help support expansion of overnight ICU and airway-management capabilities
Procedural Responsibilities:
- Central venous line placement
- Arterial line placement
- Chest tube insertion
- Endotracheal intubation
- Lumbar puncture
- Thoracentesis
- Paracentesis
- IV access and blood draws
- Foley catheter insertion and bladder irrigation
- Suturing and wound care
- Mechanical ventilation management
- Additional procedures based on demonstrated competency and clinical privileges
Compensation and Benefits:
- Annual base salary range: **$126,211.59 – $220,480**

Candidate Requirements:
- Physician Assistant
- Bachelor’s degree and graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current Massachusetts Physician Assistant license
- Current ACLS certification
- Hospital credentialing and approval required
- Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Surgical, or comparable acute-care experience preferred
- Approximately 2+ years of postgraduate acute-care experience preferred
- Procedural competency preferred
- Ultrasound proficiency preferred
- Airway-management experience preferred
- Mechanical ventilation experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy within established physician supervision
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills
