Locum invasive/interventional Cardiologist needed in WI

We are seeking a Board-Certified cardiovascular surgeon to provide locum tenens coverage following a departing provider. This is an MD position with an expected start date of December 8, 2026. The practice uses Epic and cares for adult and geriatric patients across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, including call and in-house coverage. Trauma designation: Level IV.

Schedule and coverage

• Approximately 15-20 days per month; schedule and call hours to be finalized in collaboration with the current cardiovascular surgeon.
• Daytime, weeknight, night, and 24-hour weekday call schedules: TBD.
• Call response: within 30 minutes or after three contact attempts.
• Return-to-site response: within 30 minutes or after three contact attempts.

Patient volume and visit timing

• Average inpatient census: 2-6 patients.
• Average outpatient volume: 2-15 patients per day.
• New patient visits: 30 minutes.
• Follow-up visits: 30 minutes.

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide hands-on cardiovascular surgical care and directly manage and perform appropriate surgical cases; the facility expects the locum to perform cases rather than routinely transfer them to other providers.
• Deliver coverage across inpatient, outpatient, ED, and on-call settings as needed, working alongside the existing cardiovascular surgery team.

Support and resources

• RN, MA, and APP support available.
• APP supervision required.
• No resident or fellow supervision responsibilities.
• Epic EMR.

Requirements

• Board certified in cardiovascular surgery.
• Current ACLS and ATLS certification.
• Active Wisconsin medical license required prior to start; facility cannot await licensure.
• Comfortable with inpatient, outpatient, ED, and call responsibilities and willing to personally manage and perform surgical cases.

Documentation

• Real-time charting or completion by end of shift.
• Post-shift documentation requirements as required by the facility.
