Position Overview

SCP Health is seeking a dedicated Hospitalist Medical Director to join our dynamic team at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany. Join us to grow your career, make a meaningful impact, and deliver high-quality care in the communities you serve.


  • 204 licensed-bed hospital
  • Day shift: 1 Hospitalist Physician, 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
  • Night shift: 1 NP/PA, 7 p.m.–7 a.m.
  • Average 13–16 patients per day, including admissions
  • 1–3 daytime admissions on average
  • Approximately 2 admissions overnight
  • Open ICU with 6 beds
  • Hospitalists respond to rapid responses and codes
  • Collegial work environment with the Emergency Department managed by SCP Health
  • EMR: Meditech Expanse

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Virginia License and DEA
  • Board Certification: Board Certified/Board Eligible Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Skills & Procedures: Vent management required. Intubations preferred.
  • Certifications: ACLS

Facility & Clinical Details

LewisGale Hospital Alleghany serves patients in both Virginia and West Virginia. The hospital offers a full range of medical specialties from emergency medicine to general surgery. It is also home to the Senior Transitions program, a 15-bed specialty unit for seniors with emotional and behavioral issues requiring short-term acute stabilization. LewisGale Hospital Alleghany is part of LewisGale Regional Health System, an integrated network of closely aligned patient-care facilities that consistently rank among the top in the nation for patient care. Through specialties in breast health, cardiac rehab, orthopedic care, surgical services and mental health services, the hospital is an active supporter of the community's well-being.
