Locums Psychiatrist (Board-Cert/Eligible) - Night 7-on/7-off, ED/Psychiatric Screening, Atlantic City NJ

Join a hospital-based psychiatric emergency screening center in Atlantic City, NJ as a locum tenens psychiatrist. This overnight position follows a 7-days-on / 7-days-off schedule and focuses on providing timely emergency psychiatric evaluations and disposition for adults and pediatric patients in crisis. The role also includes supervising and teaching psychiatry residents and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective care.

Compensation: $230 per hour

• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (coverage runs Monday 7:00 PM through the following Monday 7:00 AM)
• Call: None
• Setting: Hospital-based psychiatric emergency room / screening center
• Patient population: Adults and pediatric patients
• Average volume: 8-10 patients per shift
• Trauma level: Level II
• EMR: Oracle / Cerner FirstNet

Key responsibilities

• Perform psychiatric emergency evaluations for adults and children/adolescents in acute crisis
• Assess mental health needs, determine appropriate disposition (admission, discharge, observation), and develop treatment plans
• Provide psychiatric medication management as clinically indicated
• Manage acute psychiatric symptoms and behavioral health emergencies
• Supervise and teach psychiatry residents during clinical encounters
• Collaborate with ED and psychiatric care teams to coordinate safe, effective patient care
• Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in Oracle / Cerner FirstNet

Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Active New Jersey medical license required
• Experience in psychiatric emergency evaluations
• Experience evaluating both adult and child/adolescent patients in crisis settings
