Locum Tenens OB/GYN Physician - Inpatient Hospital, Paducah KY (Nov 25-29; Ongoing Shifts)

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Obstetrics and Gynecology physician to provide locum tenens inpatient coverage at a hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. This role focuses on EMTALA call coverage and includes obstetric deliveries, gynecologic emergency care, and management of complex labor and delivery cases alongside midwives and other clinical staff.

Schedule and Coverage

• Coverage dates: November 25-29, with ongoing needs of 6-7 shifts per month and potential for additional shifts.
• Shift: 24-hour coverage (7:00 AM-7:00 AM).
• Call requirements: in-house coverage with beeper/phone availability.
• Weekend coverage: required.
• Providers needed: 1-3.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform routine vaginal deliveries, including low-forceps deliveries.
• Evaluate patients and make clinical decisions regarding Cesarean sections.
• Manage complicated deliveries such as breech presentations, multiple births, and placental abruptions.
• Provide care for VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) patients.
• Repair third- and fourth-degree perineal lacerations.
• Provide obstetric and gynecologic emergency coverage and respond to inpatient consultation requests.
• Coordinate patient care with midwives and other clinical staff.

Practice Details

• Setting: inpatient, hospital-based.
• Patient population: adult.
• Inpatient/outpatient mix: 100% inpatient.
• Average patient volume: 1-6 patients per day.
• Call coverage: required, including gynecology call.
• Teaching or leadership responsibilities: none.

Requirements

• Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Active Kentucky medical license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current DEA registration.
