Locums Neurologist - Inpatient/Outpatient Coverage, EEG & Procedures, 24/7 Call (Petoskey, MI)

We are seeking a board-certified neurologist for a locum tenens position in Petoskey, Michigan. The physician will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient neurological care, perform procedures and EEG interpretation, and participate in 24/7 inpatient and weekend call coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage neurological patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Provide onsite hospital coverage throughout scheduled shifts, including periods without outpatient appointments.
• Manage a patient panel of approximately 6-8 visits per day.
• Provide inpatient and after-hours call coverage, including rotating weekend coverage (24-hour weekend shifts).
• Interpret inpatient and outpatient EEGs and perform evoked potential testing as required.
• Perform lumbar punctures and brain death examinations.
• Review and interpret radiologic studies relevant to neurologic care.
• Document care accurately in Cerner EMR and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care.

Schedule and practice details

• Regular hours: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
• Outpatient clinic: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 1:00 PM-3:00 PM.
• Patient volume: ~6-8 patients per day.
• Call: 24/7 inpatient coverage with after-hours responsibility; weekend call is 24-hour coverage (8:00 AM-8:00 AM).
• EEG reads: inpatient and outpatient as needed.
• EMR: Cerner.
• Coverage is onsite for both hospital and clinic.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board certification in Neurology.
• Active Michigan medical license and current DEA registration.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
