Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician - Fort Walton Beach, FL (Level II Trauma Center, 7+/month)

Join a busy Level II Trauma Center in Fort Walton Beach, FL, providing day and night coverage in a 44-bed emergency department. This locum tenens assignment is ongoing (PRN, 6+ months with likely extension) and requires a minimum commitment of 7 shifts per month.

Schedule & ED overview

• Shift coverage: days and nights
• Minimum: 7 shifts/month
• ED size: 44 beds
• Volume: ~1.6 patients per provider per hour (24-hour average)
• Patient mix: ~85% adult, 15% pediatric
• Trauma designation: Level II
• Admission rate: 27%

Clinical responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad range of emergency conditions for adults and children
• Manage trauma activations appropriate for a Level II Trauma Center
• Determine treatment plans, admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality care
• Complete accurate, timely medical documentation

Qualifications

• Residency-trained Emergency Medicine physician who is board-certified or board-eligible
• Active ACLS required
• ATLS completion required for residency-trained EM physicians (at least once)
• Family Medicine physicians considered case-by-case if board-certified and fellowship-trained in EM or with ≥1 year of high-volume EM experience; active ATLS required
• Internal Medicine-trained clinicians are not eligible
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 7 shifts per month
