Locums Interventional Cardiology Physician - Inpatient & On-Call (Mechanicsville, VA)

We’re looking for a Board-Certified interventional cardiologist for a locums assignment in Mechanicsville, VA. This role focuses on inpatient care and shared on-call coverage, giving you the chance to manage acute cardiac patients, perform a full range of interventional procedures, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Schedule & call

• Weekday onsite coverage: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Weekday evening/night call: Monday-Friday, 5:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Weekend call: Saturday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM
• Weekend and on-call coverage are required
• Call ratio approximately 9 VCS to 7 RHV (final ratio to be confirmed)

Facility snapshot

• 250 total hospital beds
• 30 ICU beds
• Practice setting: inpatient care with on-call responsibilities

What you’ll do

• Perform coronary angiograms and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations
• Carry out balloon angioplasty, coronary angioplasty, and PCI
• Perform atherectomy and embolic protection procedures as needed
• Provide carotid artery stenting when indicated
• Manage vascular disease and develop individualized treatment plans
• Respond to urgent cardiac consults and interventional emergencies
• Provide inpatient cardiovascular care in coordination with nursing and other specialists
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and adhere to established protocols

Must-haves

• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology
• Active Virginia medical license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Hands-on experience with coronary interventions, PCI, cardiac catheterization, and vascular procedures
