Locum Tenens Psychiatrist - Night ED/Psych Screening Center (7-on/7-off) Atlantic City, NJ

Join a hospital-based psychiatric emergency screening center in Atlantic City, NJ as a locum tenens psychiatrist. You’ll work a 7-days-on/7-days-off overnight schedule, providing psychiatric emergency evaluations for adults and children in crisis, supervising psychiatry residents, and helping ensure timely, appropriate disposition and treatment.

Compensation: $230 per hour

• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
• Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (coverage runs Monday 7:00 PM through the following Monday 7:00 AM)
• Call: None
• Setting: Hospital-based psychiatric emergency room / screening center
• Patient population: Adults and pediatric patients
• Average volume: 8-10 patients per shift
• Trauma level: Level II
• EMR: Oracle / Cerner FirstNet

What you’ll do

• Perform psychiatric emergency evaluations for adults, adolescents, and children presenting in crisis.
• Assess mental health needs, determine disposition (admit, discharge, or observation), and create treatment plans.
• Provide psychiatric medication management when clinically indicated.
• Evaluate and manage acute psychiatric symptoms and behavioral health emergencies.
• Supervise and teach psychiatry residents during clinical evaluations.
• Collaborate closely with emergency and psychiatric care teams to deliver safe, effective care.
• Complete timely, accurate clinical documentation in Oracle / Cerner FirstNet.

What we’re looking for

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
• Active New Jersey medical license required
• Prior experience with psychiatric emergency evaluations
• Experience assessing both adult and pediatric/adolescent patients in crisis settings
