Locums Emergency Medicine Physician - Winter Haven, FL; Freestanding ED + Hospital Integration, Flexible Shifts

We are seeking experienced Emergency Medicine physicians for locum coverage in Winter Haven, Florida. Assignments include shifts at a freestanding emergency department fully integrated with a nearby hospital campus, providing direct access to comprehensive inpatient and specialty services for seamless patient care and transfers.

Key details

• Flexible availability required: days, nights, and weekends.
• Preference for physicians able to cover both the main hospital and affiliated freestanding EDs.
• Main hospital shifts may be shorter than 12 hours; freestanding ED shifts are 12 hours.
• Projected annual ED volume: ~19,000 visits (about 52 patients per day).
• Facility features: 12 private patient-care beds, a dedicated trauma room, and a pediatric treatment room.

Clinical environment
The ED is integrated with the hospital campus, enabling timely admission and coordinated handoffs to intensivists, hospitalists, and specialty teams when higher-level care is needed.

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM), OR Board Certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with at least 3 years of Emergency Medicine experience.
• Current ACLS and PALS certifications.
• Active Florida medical license.
