PRN Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Willing to Train (Rapid City, SD)

We’re looking for a dedicated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our expanding Neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. This role is a great fit for experienced APPs as well as new graduates or early-career clinicians - comprehensive training is available for candidates who bring a strong clinical foundation and a passion for surgical care.

What you’ll do

• Round on inpatients, evaluate consults, and manage post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision.
• First-assist in the operating room for neurosurgical procedures.
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures within your scope of practice.
• Manage clinic patients, including pre- and post-op evaluations and conservative care plans.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical plans, and follow-up.
• Work closely with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to promote excellent patient outcomes.
• Accurately document all encounters and procedures in the EMR.
• Participate in a shared call schedule as part of a team rotation.

What we’re looking for

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Current or eligible for South Dakota licensure.
• BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain before start).
• Surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience is a plus, but we will train motivated candidates.
• Strong communication, organization, and critical-thinking skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, hands-on environment.
