Overnight Cardiothoracic Surgery NP/PA - Fly-In, ICU & Inpatient Coverage, $210K, 2w on/2w off

We’re looking for an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a cardiothoracic surgery team in Rapid City, SD, covering overnight shifts in a well-resourced hospital. You’ll provide hands-on care for patients in both the ICU and the inpatient cardiothoracic surgery unit, working closely with physicians, nurses, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, seamless care.

Schedule & compensation

• Night shift hours: 5:00 PM - 6:30 AM
• 14 shifts per month (two weeks on, two weeks off)
• Annual pay: $210,000
• Full benefits package

Clinical setting & typical patient volume

• High-resource hospital with strong support services
• Coverage split between the cardiothoracic surgery ward and the ICU
• Typical nightly census: 3-6 ICU patients and 10-15 inpatients

What you’ll do

• Provide overnight clinical coverage for cardiothoracic surgery patients in both ICU and inpatient settings
• Perform assessments, manage acute issues, and monitor changes in clinical status
• Respond to urgent events and initiate appropriate interventions
• Coordinate care and communicate updates with the daytime team, physicians, nursing staff, and other disciplines to support continuity of care

Who we’re looking for

• Licensed NP or PA (eligible for South Dakota licensure)
• ICU or cardiac clinical experience required; cardiothoracic surgery or critical care experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Acute-care specialty certification is a plus
