Job Description

The UNLV School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics is seeking a full-time non-tenure track pediatric faculty member at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor or Professor to be Residency Program Director to lead a fully accredited pediatrics residency training program.

The candidate must be board certified in pediatrics, meet the requirements for Maintenance of Certification in pediatrics or a subspecialty of pediatrics through the ABP, and have at least 3 years of educational and administrative experience within a residency training program. Candidates who would qualify for an Associate Professor/ Professor rank would be given preference. Proven track record of creative leadership and cross-disciplinary collaboration is required. Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, diplomatic and organizational skills required. Membership in a national educational organization and regular attendance at their annual meeting is strongly recommended. The fully accredited program has 39 residents and emphasizes both primary and subspecialty care experiences, research, and developing well-rounded advocates for children's health issues.

Clinical care will be provided at the UMC/Children's Hospital of Nevada or the UNLV Medicine-Pediatrics Center. The salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and rank.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The successful candidate is expected to have an M.D. degree, D.O. or equivalent and completion of ACGME accredited residency program.
  • Candidate must be board certified in Pediatrics, prior to employment commencing. If board eligible, certification must be completed within the first two years of employment.
  • Candidates must be eligible for a Nevada medical license, malpractice coverage and meet credentialing requirements and must be able to obtain admitting privileges at applicable hospitals and/or clinics.
  • Finalist must possess and maintain a State Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license and may be subject to a background check.

SALARY RANGE

 

Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
