The Ergonomist Specialist provides in-depth consolation in general ergonomic problems or within area of specialty in ergonomics, includes performing routine computer workstation and industrial ergonomic evaluations for Stanford Children's Hospital personnel, including scheduling appointments, conducting on-site assessments, providing written recommendations and post-evaluation follow-up support under general supervision. This position is responsible for providing ergonomic services for a variety of locations within the Bay Area.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Service Standards of the Hospital(s).
- Participate in the development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety and health of employees and the community. Participate in the implementation of ergonomics initiatives using established protocols. Deliver engaging and informative ergonomic services upon request to ensure the overall safety and health of the Stanford Children's Hospital employees. Build support for ergonomics program by engaging department managers and ergonomics champions.
- Conduct preventative and reactive on-site ergonomic assessments in different types of work settings including offices, laboratories, shops and clinics. May conduct employee and student training, emergency preparedness activities, and/or assurance programs. Facilitate ergonomic services and training to employees on individual workstations. Trainings are held in person individually or in a group settings and/or during an evaluation. The training tools include employee workstation equipment such as, but not limited to sit/stand desks, monitors, keyboards, chairs, etc. Lead job-specific ergonomic training addressing the risk, best practices, and value of ergonomics. Create ergonomic training printed resources and provide content for inhouse web-based tools.
- Recommend and implement improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazard potential.
- Monitor and assess potential hazards and unsafe conditions in the work area.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and provide job-specific ergonomic training addressing the risk, best practices, and value of ergonomics.
- Identify, assess, and monitor workplace hazards (including but not limited to, chemical, physical, biological, radiological) that could be present in the work area; recommend improvements to minimize hazard potential. Conduct preventative, reactive, and follow-up onsite ergonomic assessments in different types of work settings including offices, laboratories, and clinics for the 4,000+ Stanford Children's Hospital employees. Utilize standard ergonomic analysis tools to identify risk, recommendations, and compile a detailed report. Recommend and implement improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazard potential. Provide effective and detailed documentation of findings and recommendations to employees.
- Compile data and conduct initial investigations for incidents, injuries, and general complaints concerning potential hazards or unsafe conditions in the work place. Perform administrative duties as assigned, including developing resources, compiling metrics, managing email/phone line. Maintain a database of detailed data, reports, resources, training, projects and metrics.
- Provide technical advice and university interpretation of various government regulations and university policies. Ensure compliance with government regulations, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford ergonomic policies, and best practices to maintain a safe work environment. Track/document ergonomic training and Cal-OSHA compliance standards.

Experience:Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education:Bachelor's degree in arts/science in related allied/scientific field and one to three years progressively responsible experience in occupational safety and health, emergency response/management, environmental science, and/or allied/scientific field.

- Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments/evaluations and provide recommendations for risk mitigation or hazard identification.
- Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills.
- Basic understanding of environmental, health, and safety principles and practices; government environmental, health, and safety requirements and university policies; and related knowledge of pertinent scientific fields to which this background can be applied.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and detail orientation and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse audiences; ability to explain technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Ability to maintain appropriate current knowledge of and interpret specific government agency requirements (statutes, regulations, licenses, and permits).
