Summary:
The major role functions include: clinical practice, education and consultation. The primary responsibility is direct and indirect applications of clinical expertise to those patients with ostomies, pressure ulcers, skin and wound management problems. The Advanced Clinical Coordinator develops the plan of care that is implemented to assist the patient/family in attaining optimal physical, psychological, and educational outcomes. The specialist has the responsibility for the quality standards of nursing care for the specified population. This includes acute and rehabilitative care of the patients with these select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and dermal system. Evidences self-direction and accountability in the role within the hospital.
Requirements:
A. Education/Skills
· BSN Degree required.
· Completion of an Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Education Program (ETNEP)
· Completion and filing of an Application of Certification by the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurses (WOCN) is preferred.
· Computer competence helpful
· Must possess good communication skills
B. Experience
· Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a Enterostomal Therapy Nurse preferred.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
· Current permit or license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
· Current CPR certification
