Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Acute Care ED (All Ages), Travel/Lodging & Malpractice Covered

We’re seeking a locum tenens physician to join an acute care hospital emergency department in Raeford, NC, starting ASAP and continuing on an ongoing basis. You’ll cover clinical shifts only—typical schedules include 7a–7p, 3p–1a, and 7p–7a—with no on-call obligation.

You’ll see patients of all ages, from pediatrics through adults, managing general emergency medicine cases including trauma and urgent presentations. Admissions from the ED occur; rounding isn’t required, and phone consults are handled as needed.

You’ll work alongside APPs (NPs/PAs) who staff staggered shifts (examples: 7a–5p, 10a–8p, 2p–12a, 8p–6a). The role is supplemental coverage for the ED. EMR and scope of temporary privileges are TBD by the facility.

Required qualifications:

• Active North Carolina medical license
• Board certified/eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
• Active DEA with NC address
• ACLS & PALS required for non-ABEM providers
• Minimum 2 years of recent emergency medicine experience within the past 3 years (completion of an EM residency within the last 2 years also qualifies)
• Provide CME from the past 2 years, medical diploma, residency/internship certificates, and two references

Clinical responsibilities include full-scope emergency care: evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute conditions; trauma response and stabilization; performing procedures such as intubations and central line placement; and accurate documentation in the EMR. Collaboration with hospital staff and APPs for coordinated patient care is essential.

Compensation details are to be determined; pay will be a daily rate with overtime provisions (daily OT differential after 12 hours; weekly OT after 168 hours). Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered. Temporary privileges and credentialing timelines will be handled by the facility.
