Contract Physical Therapist — College Dance & Athletics (Purchase, NY)

Adelphi seeks a licensed Physical Therapist to deliver on-site rehabilitation services to college students in Harrison, NY. This contract position supports athletic and dance-related care, working closely with campus staff to assess injuries, deliver evidence-based treatment, and facilitate safe return to activity.

Required qualifications

• Current New York State PT license
• Experience in athletic or performance-related care (dance preferred)
• Relevant certifications (e.g., manual therapy, taping, sports PT) a plus

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate injured students, establish diagnosis and severity, and create individualized treatment and rehabilitation plans
• Provide first aid and ongoing treatment using manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, taping, ultrasound, and other appropriate modalities; monitor and document progress
• Coordinate referrals to specialists (orthopedics, nutrition, psychology, etc.) as needed
• Assess readiness to return to dance or athletic activities and advise the Director of Dance on restrictions, suspensions, or reinstatement
• Collaborate with campus officials to ensure prompt emergency response and adherence to university safety protocols
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, treatments, and communications with the Director of Dance and Faculty Injury Coordinator
• Conduct screenings, develop injury-prevention programs, and lead workshops or courses on safe movement and injury prevention
• Perform additional duties as assigned
