Contract Physical Therapy opportunity in Northampton, MA — 13-week assignment starting ASAP. Full-time schedule: Sun–Sat, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Rate: TBD.
Requirements:
- Active, valid Physical Therapy license for the state of Massachusetts
- Current CPR and BLS certification from the American Heart Association or Red Cross (including AED)
Role overview:
Provide comprehensive, patient-centered physical therapy services across the continuum of care. Conduct thorough evaluations, develop and implement individualized treatment plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to promote patient recovery, function, and independence.
Key responsibilities:
- Perform detailed physical assessments and review medical history to determine patient needs and goals
- Create and manage individualized treatment plans with measurable rehabilitation objectives
- Deliver therapeutic exercise programs to restore strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination
- Apply manual therapy (joint mobilization, soft tissue techniques, stretching) to improve mobility and reduce pain
- Use therapeutic modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold) to support pain control and tissue healing
- Instruct and fit patients with assistive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs) and train safe use
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, body mechanics, ergonomics, and injury prevention
- Develop and adjust pain management strategies incorporating exercise, modalities, and manual techniques
- Support patients in regaining independence after surgery, injury, or illness, emphasizing functional outcomes
- Provide tailored home exercise programs and ensure continuity of care
- Accurately document evaluations, treatments, progress notes, and plan modifications
- Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other team members
- Maintain professional, ethical practice, patient confidentiality, and culturally sensitive care
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
