Job Description

Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit is looking for BC/BE Pediatric Hospitalist to join our Division of Hospital Medicine.  

Opportunity Highlights: 

Providers are on a block schedule. There are 13 blocks in a year. 

Physician’s clinical duties include: 

  • 15-25 inpatients per team, depending on the season 
  • Day shift in the Observation Unit 
  • Night shift in the Observation Unit 
  • Evening Swat shift 
  • Floor Rounding shift 
  • Newborn Rounding shift 
  • Circumcisions 

  

Shifts are generally 8 to 13 hours long and approximately 50% of the work hours will be on weekends and holidays. The length of the shifts and the number of shifts per block will vary, depending on the coverage needs of the division and patient care demands. 

Vacation, holiday, and conference time are built into the schedule  

Candidate Requirements: 

  • Board eligible/certified Pediatrics Hospital Medicine preferred 
  • Board eligible/certified Pediatrics or MedPeds will be considered 
  • Special Skills training requirements: 
  • Newborn resuscitation/delivery care 
  • Performing circumcisions 
  • Performing lumbar punctures 
  • Eligibility to obtain licensure in the state of Michigan 

 

About the Division: 

PHM Division was established in 2003-2004 with 2 physicians staffing 2 general pediatric resident teams. Currently grown to 20+ physicians who staff all the General Pediatric inpatient Floor Teams, the 

Observation unit at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and the Newborn team at Hutzel Hospital. We have Nurse Practitioners who work alongside the Attending, in the Observation Unit. Our 2-year Pediatric 

Hospital Medicine Fellowship Program is up and running with 3 current 1st year Fellows.
