Travel RN – Orthopedics (Bone & Joints) – Nights, Herrin IL (36-hr Contract)

We’re looking for a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join a nights team in Herrin, IL on a contract/travel basis. This position focuses on orthopedic care—helping patients recover from bone and joint surgeries and injuries. Start date is ASAP; the assignment is 36-hour weeks with a rate of $1,930.

What you’ll bring

• Active RN license and graduation from an accredited nursing program
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Previous orthopedic or surgical experience is preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with a team

What you’ll do

• Provide bedside nursing care for orthopedic patients, including post-op management
• Perform musculoskeletal assessments and closely monitor recovery progress
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and ordered treatments safely and on time
• Manage post-operative needs for joint and bone surgeries, including wound and cast/traction checks
• Assist with mobility, rehabilitation activities, and fall-prevention strategies
• Communicate and coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families about recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Accurately document care and patient status in the EMR
