Summary:
Provides continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients via Avasys Telesitter or direct one-on-one observation under the guidance and direction of the nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Uses systematic processes to facilitate prompt placement of telesitter devices and validates criteria for use.
- Maintains visual observation at all times, whether individually or observing multiple patients at one time on a monitor.
- Monitors the patient via telesitter and uses voice command functionality to redirect patient while contacting nursing associates if patient requires additional intervention to maintain safety and documents intervention.
- Escalates caregiver notification when a patient is at risk for harm to self or others and participates in collaborative identification and reporting of patient safety concerns.
- Communicates effectively with patients and staff while maintaining discretion, courtesy and an understanding of patient privacy.
- Activates the telesitter alarm to notify care providers in the event a care provider cannot be reached.
- Ensures all interventions are documented within the functionality of the telesitter software.
- Communicates with patient’s family and visitors explaining the safety of the telesitter device.
- Prepares weekly reporting on telesitter dashboard and submits electronically to the telesitter task force.
- Prepares monthly reporting of metrics to telesitter task force.
- Communicates effectively with patients and staff while maintaining discretion, courtesy and an understanding of patient privacy.
- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency in the use of the AvaSys TeleSitter Solution software and basic computer operation.
- Maintains visual observation at all times, whether individually or observing multiple patients at one time on a monitor.
- Assures patient environment safety. Seeks assistance with removal of any potential safety hazard from room and reports findings to Charge Nurse or nurse caring for patient.
- Maintains vigilance in observation of patients for safety by not engaging in any distractions, including but not limited to, the use of personal cell phones, computer access, reading material or other visual material not directly involved with the care of the patient.
- Participates in hand-off of pertinent assigned patient information and status when arriving and upon completion of shift.
Requirements:
EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma.
- Completion of the Advanced Certified Nursing Assistant training required or must obtain within six months from date of hire or date of transfer.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES:
- Certified nursing assistant certification required.
- BLS issued through American Heart Association required.
