Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Beaumont, TX. This role offers a dynamic mix of surgical first assist, inpatient care, and perioperative management. The ideal candidate will have experience in cardiothoracic surgery or a related surgical specialty and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including CABG and valve cases
- Perform vein harvesting using endoscopic or open techniques as applicable
- Provide inpatient rounding, post-operative management, and consultations
- Assist with pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-up care
- Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic studies including labs, imaging, and cardiac testing
- Collaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams
- Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and ongoing care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
Qualifications
- Current Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
- Previous cardiothoracic or surgical experience preferred
- Experience with first assist and/or vein harvesting strongly preferred
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong clinical skills and ability to work independently in a high-acuity setting
