Join a Level III NICU team in Spartanburg, SC, to provide locum tenens inpatient neonatal coverage. This is a supplemental, call-only assignment (beeper) with 24-hour coverage beginning ASAP and continuing on an ongoing basis. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Practice setting and volume:

  • Patient population: neonates (NICU and well-baby)
  • Patient volume: 25–29 per shift
  • Annual deliveries: 3,400–3,900
  • Annual NICU admissions: 370–400
  • Beds in department: 35
  • NICU acuity: Level III, high‑risk neonatal cases, and well‑baby care

Clinical responsibilities and procedures:

  • Manage high‑risk neonatal patients in the NICU and well‑baby service (rounding 2–4 weeks)
  • Provide general neonatal critical care and specialty therapies, including high‑frequency ventilation and therapeutic hypothermia
  • Supervise APPs (NNPs on staff)

Team and support:

  • In‑practice physicians: 3 (FM residency & MFM group)
  • Specialty backup: Cardiology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, MFM
  • Support staff: Neonatal Nurse Practitioners

Privileges and logistics:

  • Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available

Requirements:

  • Board certified in Neonatology
  • South Carolina medical license
  • Minimum 1 year post‑fellowship experience
  • Minimum 6 months recent clinical experience
  • Current NPDB report required
