We’re seeking a Physician Assistant to cover an outpatient emergency medicine locum tenens role in Roanoke Rapids, NC. This is an ASAP–ongoing assignment treating both adults and pediatric patients (6 months and older) in a busy urgent care-style setting with an average daily volume of about 40 patients. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are not provided.

What you’ll do:

  • Act as the solo provider in the center, evaluating and managing all presenting patients.
  • Perform common minor procedures such as I&D, laceration repair, and ear irrigation.
  • Chart and manage visits using Epic EMR; completion of required EMR training and onboarding is expected before your first solo shift.
  • Work with onsite support staff (center manager, MA, PSA) and an offsite supervising physician for APPs.
  • Bring a positive, team-oriented attitude and deliver high-quality care in line with the center’s culture.

  • No hospital or temporary privileges are required or available for this role.

Requirements:

  • Board/certification: NCCPA (PA-C) or appropriate NP boards
  • Licensure: Active NC license and NC DEA
  • Certifications: BLS; PA or Family NP certification as applicable
  • Experience: Minimum of 12 months clinical experience

Patient population & case mix:

  • Adults and pediatric patients (6 months and up)
  • Typical cases: urgent care and emergency presentations across adult and pediatric populations
