Join a busy outpatient primary care clinic in New Britain, CT, providing both clinical care and hands-on teaching for residents. This locum tenens role runs from June 22, 2026 through December 31, 2026 and is focused on supervised primary care in a teaching environment.
Schedule and Coverage
- Clinical shifts: Monday–Friday, 1:00 PM–5:00 PM
- Shared on-call: phone/consultative coverage every third week (resident-first call); low callback rate, respond as needed to support residents
Patients and Clinical Flow
- Adult primary care population
- Typical volume: about 18–25 patients per half day (varies with resident involvement)
- Includes phone consults and general internal medicine/primary care cases in a resident clinic
Teaching and Teamwork
- You’ll precept and supervise resident clinic sessions (5–6 learners per session)
- Evaluate patients jointly with residents, provide real-time teaching and constructive feedback
- Complete learner evaluations and required documentation
- Collaborate with an additional attending on-site and the broader care team
Support and Resources
- Standard outpatient clinic equipment available
- Specialty backup available from another attending physician
- Residents and clinic staff provide support for patient care and administrative tasks
Responsibilities
- Supervise resident patient encounters and teach clinical decision-making
- Review and co-manage inbox items, prescriptions, and administrative duties
- Perform general primary care evaluations and supervisory clinical review
Requirements
- Active Connecticut medical license required
- Board certified in Internal Medicine
- Primary care experience required; prior teaching/precepting experience preferred
- Comfortable supervising residents and delivering feedback
