Required credentials
- Valid, active Physical Therapy state license.
- CPR/BLS certification from American Heart Association or Red Cross (with AED).
Core responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical assessments and review medical histories.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, OTs, and other care team members to determine patient needs.
- Develop and document individualized treatment plans with measurable rehabilitation goals.
- Design and implement exercise programs to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and functional mobility.
- Use manual techniques (joint mobilization, soft tissue work, stretching) to improve mobility and reduce pain.
- Apply modalities (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold) as indicated to manage pain and promote healing.
- Instruct patients and families on use of assistive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs) and safe body mechanics.
- Provide education on condition management, injury prevention, and home exercise programs.
- Monitor, document, and adjust treatment based on patient progress; maintain accurate records of assessments, treatments, progress notes, and changes in condition.
- Develop and implement pain management strategies incorporating therapeutic exercise, modalities, and manual therapy.
- Support patients in regaining independence after surgery, injury, or illness to improve quality of life.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, obtain informed consent, and adhere to legal and ethical standards.
- Practice cultural sensitivity and provide care responsive to diverse patient backgrounds.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
