We’re seeking a locum tenens emergency physician to join a hospital ED in Whiteville, NC, starting June 5, 2026, with ongoing coverage. Shifts are variable and include both day and night rotations.

What you’ll be doing

• Provide full-scope emergency care for patients of all ages, covering a broad mix of general EM presentations.
• Independently manage patient care during your shifts and coordinate with available specialty services as needed.
• Work alongside 24-hour physician coverage and NP/PA colleagues (typically 20–24 hours of NP/PA support daily).
• Admit patients, handle phone consults, and document thoroughly in the Cerner EMR.
• Perform common emergency procedures as required.

About the ED and patient volume

• Annual ED visits: ~24,000
• ED beds: 12 (including a 5-bed fast track)
• Support: Standard ED equipment and limited subspecialty backup

Credentials and requirements

• Active NC medical license and NC DEA required
• Board certified or eligible in Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS, ATLS (if not ABEM)
• Recent graduates are welcome; must be comfortable practicing with full-scope ED privileges
