Locum Tenens opportunity in Mason City, IA to provide in-house OB/GYN call coverage (supplemental). Coverage is needed ASAP and ongoing with specific shifts on May 20 and May 25–27; typical call schedule is four shifts per month with 24–96 hour shift blocks.

Clinical responsibilities

• Manage labor & delivery and triage, perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries
• Evaluate and manage high- and low-risk obstetric patients, obstetric emergencies, and urgent gynecologic consultations and surgeries
• Provide education and mentorship to residents and staff; supervise APPs as required
• Assist colleagues with complex surgical cases as needed

Practice environment & support

• Inpatient service setting with 500–600 annual deliveries
• Care team includes OBGYNs, family medicine residents/faculty, EFM-certified nurses and providers, 24/7 pediatric hospitalists, NICU nurses, pharmacists, labor/delivery/postpartum RNs, MAs/LPNs, CLC, and IBCLC
• Current OBGYN staffing: 1 general FTE, 1 FTE, 1 PT, 3 PRN
• APP team: five (2 ARNPs, 2 PAs, 1 midwife)
• Nursing support: 1:1 with additional hospital/birth center assistance
• Onsite ancillary services: medical imaging, laboratory, pharmacy
• EMR: Epic

Scope of outpatient services

• Preventive exams (breast/pelvic), Pap smears, HPV management, and abnormal Pap follow-up
• Routine prenatal and postnatal care, endometriosis, menopause, contraception counseling and procedures
• Management/treatment for infertility, urinary incontinence, hormone replacement, menstrual irregularities
• Surgical services including pelvic prolapse repairs and permanent sterilization
• Ultrasound imaging available onsite

Requirements

• Board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
• Active Iowa medical license
• Clean professional record
• Availability to cover at least some of the listed dates
