Requirements

  • Valid, active LPN state license
  • BLS certification

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN or physician direction: medication administration, wound care, vital sign monitoring.
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately, following protocols.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds, incisions, and injuries for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration) and changes in patient condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records for treatments, medications, and clinical observations.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications and fluids; ensure proper IV line function and care.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion support, maintenance, and complication monitoring.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Collaborate with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated care.
  • Address patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility assistance, and basic pain management.
  • Respond to medical emergencies per protocol and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control practices, including hand hygiene and appropriate PPE use.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies per regulations.
  • Support health promotion activities (vaccinations, screenings) and assist with health assessments.
  • Advocate for patient rights and needs within the healthcare team.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Participate in ongoing education to maintain current clinical knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
