Required credentials
- Valid, active Physical Therapy state license
- CPR and BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross, with AED)
Primary responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive evaluations: review medical history, conduct physical assessments, and identify impairments and functional limitations.
- Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and timeframes.
- Implement therapeutic interventions: therapeutic exercise programs, manual therapy (joint mobilization, soft tissue work, stretching), and proprioceptive training.
- Apply physical modalities as indicated (ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat/cold).
- Instruct and fit patients on assistive devices (crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs) and train for safe use.
- Teach patients and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment plans, body mechanics, ergonomics, and injury prevention.
- Create and instruct home exercise programs to support continuity of care.
- Monitor progress and modify treatment plans based on objective outcomes and patient response.
- Document all assessments, treatments, progress notes, and changes in condition accurately and timely.
- Collaborate and communicate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and other team members to coordinate care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality, obtain informed consent, and adhere to legal and ethical standards.
- Provide culturally sensitive care and adapt approaches to diverse patient needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
