Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

We are seeking a Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide coverage in a hospital and medical office setting in California. This 6-month assignment offers a flexible schedule with a combination of surgical first assist responsibilities, inpatient rounding, and call coverage in a collaborative cardiothoracic surgery environment.

Compensation: $1300 Per Day

Assignment Details

• Duration: 6 months
• Shift Type: 24-hour coverage
• Shift Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 AM
• Frequency: Approximately 4 shifts per month
• Setting: Hospital and medical office
• EMR: Cerner

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first assist support during cardiothoracic procedures
• Perform inpatient rounding and patient evaluations
• Participate in on-call coverage
• Complete rooming, charting, and documentation responsibilities
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
• Support perioperative and post-operative patient care

Required Experience & Procedures

Candidates should have experience assisting with:

• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting)
• AVRs (Aortic Valve Replacements)
• Lung procedures

Average patient volume: 4–5 patients per day

Requirements

• Active California NP or PA license required
• BLS certification required
• Cardiothoracic surgery experience required
• Experience in surgical first assist and inpatient cardiovascular care preferred
