We’re seeking a Hospitalist/Nocturnist to provide inpatient coverage at a Corpus Christi, TX hospital starting August 1, 2026, on an ongoing basis. This is a locum tenens role covering clinical inpatient shifts (no outpatient clinic). Shifts rotate 7a–7p (days) and 7p–7a (nights).

What you’ll be doing

  • Provide full inpatient hospitalist care including admissions, daily rounding, and discharges.
  • Manage acute inpatient medical issues across a general hospitalist case mix.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams and support staff.
  • Document accurately and promptly in Epic.
  • Be available for phone consults as needed.

Patient and workload expectations

  • Adult patient population.
  • Average census roughly 20–23 patients per provider.
  • Admissions and rounding are part of the assignment.

Team and facility details

  • EMR: Epic.
  • Multidisciplinary inpatient specialty backup available.
  • Typical support: days covered by 11 MDs + 2 NPPAs; swing by 1 NPPA; nights by 1 MD + 2 NPPAs.
  • Office and clinical equipment: standard inpatient hospital resources.
  • Additional facility specifics (bed count, trauma level, temporary privileges) to be confirmed.

Credentials and compliance

  • Active, unrestricted Texas medical license required.
  • Board certified in Family Medicine, Hospital Medicine, or Internal Medicine.
  • Active DEA with Texas address covering schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5.
  • ACLS required.
  • Completed residency in FM or IM and recent inpatient clinical experience.
  • Case logs from the past 2 years required.
  • Must present clean TX license, DEA, and board certification at onboarding.
  • Required immunizations and testing: current flu vaccine, TB test within 12 months (or prior chest X‑ray if TB positive), Tdap within 10 years, Hep B, MMR, and Varicella.
  • CME proof for past 2 years including 9 hours Trauma CME and 4 hours Stroke CME.
  • Files with prior adverse actions must include full documentation for review.

Privileges, credentialing, and malpractice

  • Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges and credentialing timeline to be determined.
  • Malpractice coverage provided for travel, lodging, and malpractice; required limits $1M/$3M.
