Location: St. Albans, VT | Type: Contract (Non-Travel) | Start: ASAP | Duration: 13 weeks | Shift: 11:00 PM–07:30 AM | Pay: $1,005 per 32-hour week (local)

We are seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse to provide compassionate, competent bedside care in a fast-paced clinical setting. This contract role emphasizes patient-centered practice, collaboration with the care team, and adherence to clinical standards.

Minimum requirements

  • Current, active LPN license for the state of Vermont
  • BLS certification

Core responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician guidance, including medication administration, wound care, and vital signs monitoring.
  • Conduct patient assessments (physical exam, history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer and monitor medications and treatments with accuracy and compliance to protocols.
  • Manage wound care: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for infection or complications.
  • Record and track vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain clear, timely documentation.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care to support recovery and wellness.
  • Insert, maintain, and monitor IV lines and administer IV medications/fluids as indicated.
  • Provide catheter care, including insertion, maintenance, and surveillance for complications.
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for diagnostic testing and ensure proper labeling/handling.
  • Support patient comfort and safety: positioning, mobility assistance, and pain management.
  • Respond to emergencies following established protocols and provide basic life support as required.
  • Follow infection control practices and proper use of PPE.
  • Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications and medical supplies in accordance with regulations.
  • Promote preventive care (vaccinations, screenings) and advocate for patients’ rights and needs within the care team.
  • Collaborate closely with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff to ensure coordinated, high-quality care.
  • Supervise CNAs or unlicensed assistive personnel when assigned.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing education and training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
