Join the team at Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, TN, to provide Emergency Department coverage starting August 1, 2026, with ongoing shifts. This locum tenens role supports an ED that sees about 24,000 patients a year and cares for both adults and pediatrics. Shifts are flexible and will be determined based on need.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver emergency care and stabilization for acute and trauma cases.
• Supervise NP and PA colleagues working in the department.
• Document patient encounters in Epic.
• Work closely with hospital staff and specialty services as needed.

Facility and support

• Franklin Woods Community Hospital — 80-bed facility with hospital specialty backup.
• APP coverage available roughly 22 hours daily.
• Epic EMR in use.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
• Coverage is supplemental to existing staff.

Schedule and coverage

• Coverage period: August 1, 2026 – ongoing.
• Clinical-only coverage.
• Flexible scheduling; exact shifts TBD.
• Daily overtime applies after 12 hours worked; weekly overtime after 168 hours, per contract terms.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Tennessee medical license required.
• Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or an accepted equivalent board pathway.
• Active DEA with Tennessee address covering schedules II–V required.
• ACLS required. ATLS and PALS required for non-ABEM physicians; NRP for non-ABEM providers.
• New EM residency graduates (within the last 12 months) are welcome.
• ECFMG required for international medical graduates; please provide case logs from the past 2 years.

Privileges and credentialing

• Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges/credentialing timeline to be determined.

Clinical expectations

• Emergency stabilization, trauma management, and supervision of midlevel providers.
• No rounding or phone consult responsibilities included.
