Job Summary
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Inpatient Gastroenterology team in Longview, TX. This role is focused exclusively on inpatient GI coverage, working collaboratively with a gastroenterologist to manage the inpatient GI service. The APP will play a key role in evaluating consults, rounding on patients, and supporting continuity of care in a hospital-based setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage initial ER and floor consults for gastroenterology patients
- Perform daily inpatient rounding on GI patients
- Collaborate closely with the gastroenterologist to provide comprehensive inpatient GI coverage
- Assess and manage acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions
- Order, interpret, and manage labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies
- Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary teams
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
Qualifications
- Current Texas license as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
- National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
- Previous inpatient, gastroenterology, hospital medicine, or internal medicine experience preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently in a hospital-based setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Schedule & Compensation
- Inpatient only
- 7 on / 7 off schedule (Thursday–Wednesday)
- 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Competitive compensation based on experience
