Requirements

  • Active, valid LPN state license
  • BLS certification

Core responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care under RN/physician direction (medication administration, wound care, vital signs).
  • Perform patient assessments (physical exam, medical history, medication review) and contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and per protocol.
  • Assess, clean, dress, and monitor wounds/incisions for infection or complications.
  • Monitor and document vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respirations) and changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate patient records of assessments, treatments, and medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families on conditions, medications, self-care, and preventive health measures.
  • Administer and monitor IV medications/fluids; ensure proper IV line function and site care.
  • Provide catheter care (insertion when applicable, maintenance, monitoring for complications).
  • Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing.
  • Assist with patient comfort and safety (positioning, mobility assistance, pain management).
  • Respond to medical emergencies per protocol and provide basic life support as needed.
  • Follow infection control procedures, including hand hygiene and PPE use.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of medications and supplies in compliance with regulations.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and needs; coordinate care with RNs, physicians, therapists, and support staff.
  • May supervise CNAs or other unlicensed assistive personnel as assigned.
  • Attend required training and maintain currency on nursing best practices and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
