Schedule
- Regular shift: Days (7:00 AM–5:00 PM or 7:00 AM–7:00 PM), Monday–Friday
- Clinic hours: 9:00 AM–3:30 PM, Mon–Fri
- On-call: 1 weeknight call and one weekend day per call week
Clinical Scope and Patient Population
- Patient demographics: Adults
- Average daily volume: Varies
- Rounds required prior to clinic
- Collaborate with 6 neurosurgeons and support staff (RNs: 1, MAs: 4)
- Additional APP backup available 1–2× per week
- EMR: Epic
Primary Duties
- Pre-clinic inpatient rounding
- Evaluate and manage neurosurgery clinic patients
- Perform inpatient and acute-care procedures
- Provide perioperative surgical care and wound management
- Participate in on-call coverage as scheduled
Required Procedures
- Diagnostic and therapeutic taps
- Lumbar puncture
- External ventricular drain (EVD) placement
- Lumbar drain placement
- Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitor placement
- Suturing and primary surgical repair of complex wounds
- Surgical care consistent with neurosurgical practice
Qualifications
- Board: BC Neurosurgery
- Licensure: Active South Carolina license required
- Background: Clean background check required
Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice
- Travel expenses billable (airfare, hotel, rental car, mileage)
- Malpractice coverage provided per locum arrangement
