Locum Tenens Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician — Midlothian, VA

We’re looking for a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Maternal-Fetal Medicine physician to cover locum tenens shifts in Midlothian, Virginia. You’ll join a busy MFM practice focused primarily on high-risk pregnancies, providing both clinic-based and inpatient care.

Schedule and call

• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:15 PM
• Weekday call: nightly coverage
• Weekend call: 24-hour coverage (weekend coverage required)
• On-call responsibilities include both weekdays and weekends

Clinical environment

• Average scheduled patients per day: 27
• Case mix: ~95% high-risk pregnancies, 5% low-risk
• Nursery: Level III
• EMR systems: Epic and Viewpoint

What you’ll do

• Manage high-risk obstetric patients in the clinic and on the hospital service
• Provide consultations, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing care for complex maternal and fetal conditions
• Perform procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS); cerclage experience preferred
• Participate in urgent and emergent MFM call coverage
• Collaborate closely with OB/GYN colleagues, neonatology, nursing, and other interdisciplinary teams
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in the EMR

Skills and experience we value

• Strong procedural skills (amniocentesis, CVS; cerclage preferred)
• Experience managing pre-eclampsia and hypertensive disorders, multiple gestations, fetal growth restriction, preterm labor, thrombophilia/genetic disorders, and congenital or chromosomal abnormalities
• Comfort with both vaginal and cesarean deliveries in high-risk settings
• AIUM certification and BLS required

Required qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
• Completion of an accredited MFM fellowship
• Active Virginia medical license
