Locum Tenens Hospitalist L&D/OB-GYN Coverage, Days 7a7p, Travel/Lodging Covered

We’re seeking a Hospitalist to provide labor-and-delivery coverage in Warren, Ohio, on a locum tenens basis. This is an ongoing, supplemental assignment with day shifts (7a–7p) and clinical plus call responsibilities. Coverage starts ASAP.

What you’ll be doing

• Cover the L&D unit under the hospitalist model, managing both vaginal deliveries and C-sections.
• Provide care for low- and high-risk OB patients (including toxemia, diabetes, cardiac disease Class II+, chronic lung or renal disease, prior twin pregnancy, etc.).
• Back up midwife services and respond to midwife calls overnight (7p–7a).
• Perform emergent gynecologic procedures for unassigned ER patients as needed—laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures and open surgical gynecology.
• Work closely with RNs, CNMs, and other OB/GYN providers to ensure smooth handoffs and continuity of care.

• Duration: ASAP – ongoing (supplemental)
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

• Patient population: Obstetric patients (low- and high-risk pregnancies) and gynecologic surgical cases
• EMR: Epic
• On-site specialty backup: Yes (other OB/GYN physicians)
• Support staff: RNs and CNMs available

Privileges, compliance & timeline

• Hospital privileges required; credentialing timeline is approximately 120 days.
• NPDB report must be available at time of presentation (pulled within 30 days).

Qualifications

• Board certified or board eligible in Hospitalist medicine.
• Active Ohio medical license or willingness to obtain.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS.

Procedural expectations (typical)

• Obstetrics: management of low- and high-risk pregnancies.
• Labor & delivery: routine vaginal deliveries, low forceps, decision-making for and performance of C-sections, management of complicated deliveries (breech, multiple births, abruptions), VBACs, and repair of 3rd/4th-degree lacerations.
• Gynecology: laparoscopic diagnostic/minor procedures (e.g., tubal ligation, lysis of adhesions) and open surgical gynecology when required.
