Job Description
Fauquier Health is seeking a board-certified intensivist physician to join our established critical care team in Warrenton, Virginia, on a PRN basis. The intensivist will provide comprehensive care for critically ill adult patients in the intensive care setting, collaborating closely with hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:
- Provide expert evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
- Perform and oversee critical care procedures including, but not limited to, central venous catheter placement, arterial line insertion, endotracheal intubation, and ventilator management
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for patients with complex medical conditions and acute critical illnesses
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care with consulting physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and case management teams
- Respond to rapid response and code situations as required
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in the electronic medical record
- Communicate effectively with patients and family members regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, goals of care, and prognosis
- Support hospital and department policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
- Board certification or board eligibility in critical care medicine
- Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileging
- Demonstrated expertise in managing critically ill adult patients
- Fellowship training in critical care medicine, pulmonary and critical care medicine, or related specialty
- Experience in community hospital and multidisciplinary ICU settings
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
