We’re seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join a Level III NICU in Lansing, MI on a locum tenens basis to help cover staffing while the fellowship program is paused and the unit transitions to APP-only coverage. This is inpatient, clinical-only work with varied 12.5-hour day and night shifts (days 7:00 AM–7:30 PM; nights 7:00 PM–7:30 AM). Coverage begins July 5, 2026 and is ongoing. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.
What you’ll be caring for
- Patient population: neonates in a Level III NICU
- Typical caseload: roughly 10–12 patients per APP on average
- You’ll attend high-risk deliveries, provide neonatal resuscitation, and manage critically ill neonates in collaboration with the neonatology team.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care in the NICU and respond to emergent situations.
- Attend delivery room resuscitations and perform advanced neonatal resuscitation as indicated.
- Perform invasive procedures such as PICC and umbilical line placement, needle aspiration, and chest tube placement.
- Work closely with the supervising neonatologist and the multidisciplinary care team.
- Accurately document patient encounters and maintain records in Epic.
Facility and systems
- Level I trauma center with a Level III NICU
- Electronic medical record: Epic
Requirements
- National certification: ANCC, AANP, or NCCPA
- Active Michigan license required
- NRP certification at Advanced Provider or Instructor level
- Prior neonatal experience required
- Hospital privileges required; expect credentialing to take approximately 120+ days
