Join a team providing locum tenens emergency care in Ishpeming, MI. This clinical-only position offers in-house 24-hour ED coverage on 24-hour shifts (8:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m.) beginning June 30, 2026 and continuing on an ongoing basis to cover vacations. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered by the agency.

Coverage schedule and orientation

• Orientation: Jun 30, 2026 (8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)
• Initial coverage: Jul 1, 2026 (8:00 a.m.) – Jul 4, 2026 (8:00 a.m.)
• Additional blocks: Jul 21–25, 2026 and Aug 24–30, 2026
• Specific shifts to fill: Week of Jun 30 (orientation Tue 8a–4p; Wed 8a–Sat 8a), Week of Jul 21 (Tue–Sat), Week of Aug 24 (Mon–Sun)

Clinical environment

• Average ED volume: ~25 patients/day
• Department beds: 18 acute inpatient beds (average daily census 6)
• Trauma designation: working toward Level IV (nearest higher-level care: UPHS–Marquette, Trauma Level II, 15 miles away)
• EMR: MediTech
• Typical support: 2 RNs day shift, 2 RNs night shift, 1 RN mid-shift (day coverage noted as 3 RNs)

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous 24-hour in-house emergency department coverage
• Evaluate and manage acute presentations, perform emergency procedures, and stabilize patients for admission or transfer
• Coordinate patient transfers to higher-level care when required
• Collaborate closely with nursing and specialty backup resources

Requirements

• Michigan medical license required (IMLC not accepted)
• Board certification not required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Hospital privileges required
