Join a busy inpatient surgical team in Richland, WA covering supplemental shifts as a Nurse Practitioner in general and pediatric trauma surgery. This locum tenens opportunity runs from early September through early December 2026, with a few possible August dates if privileging is completed in time. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are provided.
Schedule and coverage
- Coverage period: Sep 01, 2026 – Dec 06, 2026 (possible additional Aug blocks if privileged early)
- Specific coverage blocks (if privileged): Aug 10–16 and Aug 24–30, 2026
- Confirmed blocks: Sep 07–13; Sep 21–27; Oct 05–11; Oct 19–25; Nov 02–08; Nov 16–22; Nov 30–Dec 06, 2026
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a)
- Expected volume: 7–15 shifts per month
- Coverage type: Clinical only, supplemental
Patient mix and daily activity
- Patient population: Adults and pediatrics (roughly 80% adult, 20% pediatric)
- Average daily volume: ~20 patients
- Typical daily stats: 5–7 admissions, 3–5 ICU patients, 4–6 surgeries
- Case mix: trauma, pediatric surgery, HMP, endoscopic appendectomy
- Rounding: yes — participate in daily rounds and inpatient care
- Expect to be involved in pediatric trauma cases (pediatric cases are under 20/month)
Facility and team
- Hospital: 326 beds, Level II Trauma Center, Pediatric Level III
- Team: 6 physicians and 6 NP/PAs on staff
- Support services: Lab and X-ray onsite
- Exam rooms: 2 available
- EMR: Epic
Clinical responsibilities and procedures
- Provide inpatient trauma and surgical care, including pediatric cases
- Perform pediatric surgeries and consult on pediatric trauma
- Participate in patient rounds and collaborate with surgical and specialty teams
- Common procedures: diagnostic/therapeutic taps, suturing, general surgical care
- Document all care in Epic
Qualifications and requirements
- Board certified NP (BC)
- WA license or Universal License (IMLC) required
- DEA required
- ACLS certification required
- Prior experience with pediatric surgery and comfort managing pediatric trauma cases
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
Privileges & compliance
- Hospital privileges: Not required; temporary privileges not available
