We’re seeking a Physician Assistant to support general surgery coverage in Richland, WA. This locum tenens role is inpatient-only, providing supplemental clinical coverage for a mix of adult and pediatric surgical patients. Travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered by the agency.

Schedule and coverage

• Assignment window: Sep 01, 2026 – Dec 06, 2026
• Shift pattern: 12-hour shifts (7a–7p or 7p–7a)

Patient population and workload

• Patient mix: Adults and pediatrics (pediatric cases are fewer: <20/month)
• Average daily volume: ~20 patients/day
• Rounding: Inpatient rounding required
• Typical case mix: Trauma surgery (pediatric trauma included), pediatric surgery, HMP, endoscopic appendectomy

• Trauma designation: Pediatric Level III
• EMR: Epic
• Support staff: RNs, MAs, other PA/NPs and office staff (staffing levels TBD)

Privileges, credentialing, and compliance

• Hospital privileges: Not required; temporary privileges not available
• Credentialing timeline: 30–60 days

Required qualifications

• Board Certified (BC) required
• WA state license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) acceptable
• DEA registration required
• ACLS certification required
• Experience: Prior pediatric surgery experience required; comfortable managing pediatric trauma
• EMR: Proficiency with Epic required

Core responsibilities

• Provide inpatient trauma and general surgical care, including pediatric cases
• Perform pediatric surgical procedures and consult on pediatric trauma patients
• Round on patients and collaborate with the surgical team and consulting specialists
• Document clinical care in Epic
