Locum Tenens Orthopedic Surgeon — InHouse Weekend Call, Level II Trauma, Travel/Lodging Covered

Seeking a board-eligible Orthopedic Surgeon for locum tenens coverage in Joplin, Missouri, providing in-house weekend call at a Level II trauma center. Coverage is ongoing, ASAP start, Friday 7:00 a.m. through Monday 7:00 a.m., two weekends per month. Call response time is 30 minutes. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Clinical scope and setting

• Inpatient, adult-only emergency population (100% adult)
• Primary responsibilities: in-house call coverage for general orthopedics and trauma, management of assigned patients, and performance of required procedures
• Typical case mix: general orthopedics and trauma at a Level II trauma center
• EMR: Epic

Required procedures and clinical expectations

• Arthroscopy
• Total joint replacement (hip, knee, other joint replacements excluding hip and knee where specified)
• Joint revision or repair (shoulder, hip, knee)
• Hand procedures including tendon release/repair
• Fracture care and trauma management
• Collaboration with the multidisciplinary trauma team and documentation in Epic

Qualifications and credentials

• Board eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Licensed in Missouri or holding a Universal License (IMLC)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, ABLS
• Level 2 trauma experience preferred

• Temporary or hospital privileges are not required/available for this assignment
• Coverage type: supplemental call only

Responsibilities summary

• Provide dedicated in-house weekend call coverage, evaluate and manage orthopedic trauma and general cases, round on assigned inpatients, perform required operative procedures, and coordinate care with the trauma team while documenting in Epic.
