Assignment overview:
Provide pre-operative nursing care for surgical patients, ensuring thorough assessments, safe preparation for the OR, and clear patient education. Collaborate with surgical, anesthesia, and OR teams to maintain high standards of safety and documentation.

Shift highlights:

• June: 6/16–6/19, 6/22–6/26, 6/29–6/30
• July: 7/1–7/3, 7/6–7/31 (selected weekdays)
• August: 8/3–8/7, 8/10–8/14, 8/17–8/21, 8/24–8/28, 8/31
  (Full schedule provided above; all shifts are weekday day shifts.)

Core responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive pre-op assessments and review medical history, labs, consents, and allergies.
• Start IVs and administer preoperative medications per protocol.
• Verify required testing and readiness for surgery; escalate any concerns to the team.
• Coordinate patient flow and handoffs with surgical, anesthesia, and OR staff to promote safety and on-time starts.
• Provide clear patient and family education on the procedure and immediate postoperative expectations.
• Accurately document care and assessments in the EMR.

Qualifications:

• Active RN license in practicing state required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Pre-Op, PACU, or Surgical nursing preferred.
• Current BLS required; ACLS often required by facility.
• Strong assessment, IV-start, and surgical prep knowledge.
• Effective communication and patient education skills.
• Experience with EMR charting.
